Your Students

There is increasing recognition of the role of students in informing how the course should be delivered to optimise student learning. Students can and should be empowered through involvement, and their input and honest feedback are crucial. Students should also be engaged in dialogue that permits them to develop clear expectations of themselves, you, the supervisor / coordinator, and the course. It is a good idea to have an initial expectation-setting activity at the outset of the semester; this can be followed-up at points later in the course to clarify expectations and modify them, as appropriate.

A key priority at ANU is to foster a culture of inquiry and to develop in students the discipline and values of a questioning mind. Many students do not know that they can and should question, and lack the to confidence to do so. One of your jobs is to help them learn to actively question material, procedures, and their relevance.
